Unit 4 of the English textbook features various vocabulary words and expressions. These words and expressions are important to know for improving your English skills.
To allow means to give permission or to let someone do something. For example: My parents allow me to stay up late on weekends.
Wrong means not correct or having a problem. For example: What's wrong? Are you feeling sick?
Midnight is the time exactly twelve o'clock at night. For example: I usually go to bed at midnight.
To guess means to estimate or make a prediction. For example: Can you guess what I got for my birthday?
To deal means to handle or manage something. For example: I had to deal with a difficult customer at work today.
To get on with someone means to have a good relationship with them. For example: I get on well with my coworkers.
Relation means a connection or association between things or people. For example: The relation between smoking and lung cancer is well known.
Communication means the exchange of information or ideas between people. For example: Good communication is important in any relationship.
To argue means to have a disagreement or dispute. For example: My parents often argue about politics.
A cloud is a visible mass of water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere. For example: The sky was full of dark clouds.
Elder means older or of higher rank. For example: My elder sister is three years older than me.
Instead means in place of or as an alternative. For example: I decided to go to the movies instead of staying at home.
Whatever means anything or everything. For example: You can do whatever you want this weekend.
Nervous means anxious or worried. For example: I always get nervous before a big test.
To offer means to propose or give something willingly. For example: My friend offered to help me move to my new apartment.
Proper means correct or appropriate. For example: It's important to wear proper clothing for a job interview.
Secondly means in the second place or as a second point. For example: Firstly, we need to discuss the budget. Secondly, we need to decide on a location.
To communicate means to convey or exchange information or ideas. For example: We need to communicate more effectively in order to work together successfully.
To explain means to make something clear or understandable. For example: Can you explain this concept to me?
Clear means easy to understand or free from confusion. For example: The instructions were clear and easy to follow.
To copy means to reproduce or imitate something. For example: I copied the recipe from a cookbook.
To return means to come or go back to a place or person. For example: I need to return this book to the library.
Anymore means any longer or now. For example: I don't eat meat anymore.
A member is a person who belongs to a group or organization. For example: I am a member of the local gym.
Pressure is the force exerted on a surface by a fluid or gas. For example: The pressure in the tire is too low.
To compete means to strive or vie for a goal or prize. For example: The athletes competed in the Olympic Games.
An opinion is a belief or judgment about something. For example: In my opinion, the movie was not very good.
A skill is an ability or proficiency in a particular activity or subject. For example: I have good computer skills.
Typical means having the distinctive qualities of a particular type of person or thing. For example: This is a typical example of bad customer service.
Football is a team sport played with an oval-shaped ball. For example: I enjoy playing football with my friends on the weekends.
To cut out means to remove or delete something. For example: I need to cut out this paragraph from my essay.
Quick means happening or done with great speed or without delay. For example: We need to make a quick decision.
To continue means to persist in an activity or process. For example: We will continue working on this project until it is complete.
To compare means to examine the similarities and differences between two or more things. For example: Let's compare the prices of these two products.
Crazy means not mentally sound or behaving irrationally. For example: My boss is driving me crazy with all these last-minute requests.
Development is the process of growing or improving over time. For example: The city is undergoing a period of rapid development.
To cause means to bring about or create a particular situation or condition. For example: The heavy rain caused flooding in the area.
Usual means normal or typical. For example: I have my usual breakfast every morning.
In one's opinion means according to someone's personal belief or judgment. For example: In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in town.
Perhaps means possibly or maybe. For example: Perhaps we should wait for the rain to stop before going for a walk.
